Term 3, Week7

Good afternoon everyone.
Welcome to week 7.

Jumps and Throws – I do believe that tomorrow is the jumps and throws for the Year 5’s during their sport time. Having a look out the window it looks like the students will be doing time trails for freestyle and breaststroke at the moment. The oval just needs a couple of lane ropes and we have an Olympic sized pool.

Book Week Dress Up - This Thursday is our Book Week Dress Up day! We ask that all students come dressed as a character from their favourite book ready to parade on Thursday after recess. If your child is able to bring their book as well, that would be great! They will be asked to explain their character during the parade.

Father's Day Breakfast - Can you please make sure that you have sent your RSVP in to Fran by Wednesday. We are asking all that attend to bring a cold coin donation.

Homework – For those students that are still struggling to understand what the activities for spelling are, there is a success criteria on their Onenote.

Term 3, Week 5

Good afternoon everyone,

Welcome to week 5. If you get the opportunity to come into the Year 5 classroom, come in and have a look at the well designed Indigenous Jumpers that the students have created.

MISSION MARKET DAY
The OLC Feast Day is on this Wednesday 15th August. The Mission Markets will be held between 11.30 and 12.45pm. We ask that all students bring a small amount of change in different denominations with a cloth or reusable bag to store their loot! We require a couple of volunteers to help with our stall during this time. If you are able to assist with this, can you please let either one of us know.

OLC FEAST DAY MASS
OLC Feast Day Mass is on this Wednesday 15th August. We will be hosting the mass here at school in our hall beginning at 9am. All parents are invited to attend if you are able.

CONFIRMATION
Mrs Meyer sent an email yesterday asking for students to attend mass on Saturday night to help sing in the choir. These are a great way to build our school community. I would be personally grateful to anyone who is able attend especially as this current year group will have their confirmation next year.

Term 3, Week 4

Welcome to week 4 everyone,

As you can imagine, much of this morning’s conversation was surrounding the incident that happened in yesterday’s derby. We had a solid discussion about how brain fades can have massive consequences.

Novel Study:
This semester the Year 5’s will be looking at the Novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have sent home the small slip of paper that is attached below. Some students are yet to download this. Could you please download this! If you need help, please let me know.

Musical Meeting:
Good afternoon parents,

We will be holding a Parent Help Meeting for our production 'The Jungle Book' on Wednesday 8th August beginning at 3.05pm. We will meet in Year 6 and we expect the meeting to last for approximately half an hour.

The Production is held over two nights Thursday 13th and Friday 14th September. As we know many hands make light work and we would like to involve as many willing helpers as possible...even if you can only help for an hour or two!

We are in need of assistance in the following areas:
  • Make Up
  • Costumes (dressing)
  • Hair
  • Supper - ideally this is a Year 5 and a Year 6 parent/s
  • Set Dressing
  • Anything
If you would like to help but are unable to make the meeting, please let Mr Jones or Mr Danaher know via email and we will add your name to the list.
Many thanks for your ongoing support,

Mrs Horrocks

Mission Markets:
This note will be going home this afternoon in relation to the OLC Mission Markets next Tuesday.

On Wednesday 15th August, we will be holding our Annual Mission Markets beginning at 11.45am. The Year 5 stall item this year is Coin Toss!

Can we please ask that all Year 5 families provide a block of chocolate and some small chocolate bars for prizes at our stall?  If you can please have these in by Friday 10th August, I would be most appreciative.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your support.

Kindest regards,
Ben Danaher
