Term 2, Week 5

Welcome to week 5 everyone.

In sports news this week, the high flying Eagles won their 9th game in a row for the first time since Mick Malthouse was in charge. For the boys in purple, it looks like it is going to get rough, with Lyon suggesting that the Dockers are going to ‘double down’ on youth. This feels like another word for tanking.

Not too much to report this week. Next week is going to be fantastic, with us getting both Monday and Tuesday off.

Homework:
For those students that are still struggling to understand what the activities for spelling are, there is a success criteria on their Onenote.

Term 2, Week 4

Welcome to week 4 everyone,

Well the disappointment continues. The shockers put up a shocking performance in Sydney on Saturday. After dominating the first quarter, they ended up being goalless after 30 minutes, which was just the beginning. The swannys took control after that and the match ended in tears…

On the other side of the pond, according to reports several Grand Final tickets have already been purchase. I know that I don’t have to watch AFL360 tonight as I received multiply reports from students and staff members that “Eagles win, Dockers in the bin”.

NAPLAN:
A big congratulations to all the Year 5 students for completing the NAPLAN assessments last week. Every student put their best efforts in and that is all we can ask for.

Football:
Parents, could you please have a quiet word to your boys if they play football on the oval at recess and lunch. There has been an escalation in the amount of tackling that is happening on the oval. Des has stressed that there is to be no tackling your opponent to the ground, but there was several incidences today where there were Year 5 boys sling tackling and dropping people to the ground. I really don’t want to ban the boys from the oval, so could you please let the boys know that the tackling is not on.

Camp:
Camp has been booked for Wednesday 27th June – Friday 29th June (WEEK 9) at Bridgetown Camp School.

We are looking for a volunteer Mum and Dad to come on the camp with us. Please let me know if you are interested.

In the coming weeks, a camp permission slip and medical form will be sent home for filling out and signing. Please return these ASAP. Cheers!

Book Fair:
On Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th of May, there is a book fair in the library. The library will be selling books from 8-9am and 3.30-4.30pm on these days.

Term 2, Week 3. NAPLAN......ahhhhhh

Welcome to Week 3 everyone,

Great weekend for WA footy. The Eagles are looking magnificent as they taught GWS a lesson away. Whereas the Docker could have won their last game for a while as they got over the line against a terrible St Kilda.

In non footy news, I hope every Mum had a great day today and that you got extremely spoilt.

NAPLAN
This week is the much anticipated NAPLAN week. Below is the timetable for when the test will take place.

Casuals for Catholics
Every year Bishop Holohan asks schools in the Bunbury Diocese to hold a ‘Casuals for Catholic Care Day’ for a gold coin donation (larger donations can be made in the front office). This will take place next Friday, May 18th, and students are encouraged to wear free dress for a donation.

Homework
With the added stress of NAPLAN this week, there will be NO homework for week 3. I encourage the students to still read every night, but there will be no set Maths or Spelling.

Term 2, Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 everyone,

Great weekend for those who are supporters of the Eagles, not so much for the poor souls that support the Fremantle Dockers. I don't think I am a big fan of the choice to tank in May. In better news for footy fans, the Dunsborough Mulies had a solid 21 goal win on Friday night and most of the juniors kicked off another season of winter sports.

Mothers Day:
Attached is the note that has been sent out regarding the Mother’s Day breakfast on Friday.
