Term 3, Week 6


Good afternoon everyone and welcome to week 6.

Terrible weekend for footy and sport in general. The ashes went horribly and the eagles shot themselves in the footy. In another horrific news the Dockers finished their season with an awful performance in Adelaide.

Champion Life:
This week’s Champion Life Champion of the week is Ruby Eastaugh who create multiple videos through the first few week of us subscribing to the service. Well done Ruby!!!!

Father’s Day Breakfast Friday 30th August:
The time has come to celebrate our dads with a delicious breakfast...if you can please make sure that you have sent your RSVP to your class rep for Friday's breakfast...it begins at 7am!

Meelup Free Dress:
On Friday 30th August all students in Meelup can come in free dress for the day as they have won the token count for the first 5 weeks of term. We will be doing sport in the afternoon so please encourage suitably active clothes.

Our Learning:
Last week in Maths we were learning about how to find the Volume of a shape. Using the formula of length x width x height. Below are some photos of the students working together to create different prisms with the volume of 48 cubic centimetres.



In literacy we are focusing on informative writing specifically information reports. Below is a photo from our wall where students had too much up the subheadings with what is required under those subheadings.

Can’t believe that end of this week we will be half way through this term.
I had the pleasure of heading down to watch the Year 5 footy derby on Saturday morning. I was great to see all the boys running around and getting into it, unfortunately I missed the memo on the weather as it was FREEZING!

Book week:
This Friday 23rd August is our Book Week dress up day. So dust off the ole Willy Wonka costume and get sorted for Friday morn!

Mission Market Donations:
On Thursday morning we will walking down to Mass on Thursday morning to celebrate Mass at OLOTSC to begin at 9.30am. If you are able to join us you are most welcome!

Below is a couple of photos from our science lesson today. This term we are looking at our Solar System. Today we examined the distance between the planets from the sun. Poor Isaac was Neptune who was 44 meters away from the sun which converted is 4,495,100,000 km’s.

Term 3, Week 3


Welcome to week 3 everyone,

Thank you to everyone that supported the school by attending or donating to the OLC Quiz night on Saturday. It was a great night and a truck load of fun.

Year 2 Buddy Mass:
Weather dependent, the Year 5’s will be walking down to the church on Wednesday with the Year 2’s.

BRLA:
This Thursday the Year 5 students will be participating in the Bishops Religious Literacy Assessment (BRLA). The BRLA is split up into 4 sections that cover the areas of:
-       Bible
-       Sacraments and Prayer
-       Church
-       Jesus
This assessment will be completed on their iPads, so please make sure that their devices are fully charged for Thursday.

Champion Life:
I have decided to create a little award for the person that is our “Champion Life Champion of the week”. This is for any student that has be showing the CL values as well as completing challenges. This week’s Champion Life Champion of the week is Toby Delane who created 5 videos in the first week of us subscribing to the service. Well done Tobes!!!!

Sports Carnival:
The Athletics Carnival is on the 19th of September.  All children will be in a running race and team events.  Practise for team games has commenced.
