Good morning Year 5 parents and students,
I would just like to wish everyone a happy Easter.
This week we have been following Holy Week and the students acted out the Stations of the Cross yesterday morning with reverence and respect. This was wonderful to see.
As well as the performance the students have designed some excellent art pieces that represent Holy Week. Attached below are some examples of some student artwork that has been created.
Also attached below are the mass times for Holy Week for the people that are interested.
Once again, I wish everyone a safe break.
Ben.

Term 1, Week 9
Good afternoon Year 5's,
The Year 6 students will be doing the readings and most speaking parts. The Year 5 students have been given the acting part. Some children have been given specific roles, they will know who they are. We are asking that all other children come dressed in a simple costume reflective of the time of Jesus. They are to wear this over the top of their school uniform and are to come to school dressed and ready to go on Wednesday morning.
Parent Teacher Interviews:
After the first week of the AFL season, it is not looking good for the boys in purple. It is definitely looking a lot brighter for the boys in blue and yellow. According to a student this morning the Eagles lost because of the "umpires cheating". I did inform them that the only cheaters we have in Australian sport at the moment are Steve Smith and his gang.
Holy
Week Reflections:
On Wednesday 28th March, the Year 5 & 6 students will be presenting a reflection on Good Friday and the stations of the cross.

Term 1, week 8
Dear Year 5,
In good news to start off the week, Dunsborough Cricket Club is going to be represented in the finals next Saturday by all grades which is brilliant!! Go DCC!!
In school news, good luck to all involved in the interschool swimming carnival that will be held in Bunbury on Thursday 22nd March. It should be a great day and I can't wait to hear about how everybody put in their best effort.
Homework:
I have had some discussion with several parents about the homework over the last couple of weeks.
Specifically involving the Maths homework. If the content is too hard, please do not stress about it. Homework is already a burden to everyone's afternoon and I don't want it to cause a rift at home.
If your child is struggling with areas of the Maths, they can do it during gather time where I or another student can support and scaffold them.
For those students that are still struggling to understand what the activities for spelling are, there is a success criteria on their Onenote.

Term 1, Week 7
Good afternoon Year 5 parents,
There is nothing major to report this week, besides the Dockers giving the Eagles a thumping yesterday. I know that it was still preseason, but it still felt great didn't it?

Holy Week - We
will be coming together each day during Holy Week to share a reflection on one
of the key milestones of this important time. The Year 5 students will be
presenting on Wednesday 28th March beginning at 9am in the Hall.
This is a combined effort between the Year 5 and 6 classes. Further information
will follow in regards to costuming and reading parts if applicable.

Maths:
I think it
is a little harsh to make the students do the complete unit of think mentals,
so the Maths homework is below.
There will
be 2 mental multiplication
sheets that will be glued into your child’s homework book that need to be
completed.
Thank you,
Ben.
