Week 9 - Term 4

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone for this year. Thank you for all your help.

Vinny's Donations:
Our tub is located in the wet area. If you can please make any small donation of toiletry items it will go a long way to helping make someone's Christmas very special. These hampers will be put together and handed over at assembly on Friday morning.

Graduation left overs:
Unlike the delicious left overs that people were getting into on Saturday morning. We have quite a number of left over dishes that we used on Friday night. Some of them had names on them and they have been returned, but below are some that need to find their home.

Christmas Concert:
On Wednesday at 5.30pm, the entire school will be getting together to celebrate the Year 6 Graduation, the Christmas concert performed by US and each year group will be presenting the 2018 Making Jesus Real CARE award and the subject award for Design and Technology.

We ask that you bring your child to the grassed area outside the hall by 5.15PM so the children can line up in their classes, ready to go into the hall.

Water fun day
As mentioned in the newsletter in week 7, the children will no longer be going to the Boat ramp due to size and water safety restrictions.
We will instead be having a water fun day on the last Friday at school where we participating in a variety of water fun games...including a bouncy castle!
Please dress your children in bathers, rashie, hats, towels, another change of clothes (if needed) and come to school with sunscreen applied. We have some here and we will reapply before we go to our games.

Term 4, Week 7

Welcome to week 7 everyone,

Leadership Speeches:
The students have just about completed their leadership speeches in the class. Many have finished their good copies on their iPads too. I would like to encourage you to ask your child to bring their speeches home so they can go through it with you. I know that all the students are proud of the speeches they have created and some a very keen to push for a leadership role next year.
The actual presentation of the speeches will be next week, but I will confirm a time later on.

Absentee follow ups:
Tomorrow I will hand out some Absentee follow up forms that Mrs Marrell has printed out. Could you please sign them and return them back to me so I can put them on file.

Homework:
For those students that are still struggling to understand what the activities for spelling are, there is a success criteria on their Onenote.

Term 4, Week 3

Good afternoon everyone,
This is a really important blog post, especially the first two points, so please read carefully.

Leadership Speeches:
We have been looking at what makes a good leader and what makes a good leadership speech. Attached below is a personal assessment form that the students will be filling out on Wednesday. Could you please discuss the questions with them so they have some prior knowledge before Wednesday’s lesson.
As a young person it is hard to gauge what qualities and strengths you have, so its great opportunity to discuss with them about what makes them great.

2 by 2 digit Multiplication:
I have attached a Khan Academy video below on the process of working out a 2 by 2 digit multiplication question. Could you please watch this with your child, or get your child to watch it as some students are missing a couple of the steps and I think they are getting sick on my voice haha.

Interschool Athletics Carnival:
Just a reminder that the Interschool Athletics Carnival is this Thursday 25th October. Please remember the students need to wear their school sports uniform (green polo) and bring their recess, lunch, water bottle and hat on the day.

Socktober:
Friday is “Crazy Sock Day”.  We are encouraging the students to wear crazy socks and to bring in a gold coin donation for children in poverty. Students will be invited to a lunch time dance party to “Dance their Socks Off”, with Year 3-6 dancing from 1.00-1.15, and P-2: 1.15-1.30.
